The Dragon and the Damsel
From the heading you may have guessed what I am talking about – Dragon flies. A colleague had asked me whether there are any stamps of Dragon flies.
Yes, there are.
When you take a walk in a wet area (reservoir, river, pond) you will see dragon flies. Quite often you will also see very ‘slim dragon’ flies as well. These thin ones are damsel flies.
When these winged insects are at rest you will notice that the dragon-fly has its wings spread out while the damsel-fly rests with wings folded.
I guess issuers of stamps are born educators and entomologists — where there is a stamp of a Dragon Fly, it is accompanied by one of the Damsel Fly.
