I am grateful to Professor Kroto for pointing out the inadequacy of the citation in my retrievia item.

The citation should have been as follows:
Professor Sir Harold W. Kroto, Professor Robert F. Curl Jr and Professor Richard E. Smalley, were awarded the Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 1996 for their discovery of the C60 particles.

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has decided to award the 1996 Nobel Prize in Chemistry to
