With friends like me, you can’t afford any enemies!

These days when we read frequently about brother-fighting-brother, son-fighting-father, etc in the law courts it is good to remind ourselves daily of the call, “Peace on earth; goodwill towards all men”.

Here’s a short story to share with you about the great American gentleman, President Abraham Lincoln.

Apparently, when at official functions Abraham Lincoln was seen talking to his critics and political enemies with great courtesy, his Secretaryof State told him: “Mr. President. You should not be friendly with your enemies. You should destroy them.”

To which the great President replied, “My dear man. Have I not destroyed my enemies — when I make them my friends?”

Real cheem and totally true, isn’t it?
