The Nanyang University Arch

The recent (2004) issue of NTU News shows Nanyang University Alumni gathered under the original NU Arch at the junction between Jurong West Street 93 and Upper Jurong Road. [The one in the NTU garden in front of the Chinese Heritage Centre Building is a replica.]

Another picture of the original NU Arch in the 1950s comes from a postcard that can be purchased from any tourist souvenir shop in town. For your viewing pleasure, the 2 pictures are shown here.

Retrievia Excerpts 2003-2004

Incidentally, do you know why our technological university is known as Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and not Nanyang University of Technology?

Well, if it is known as Nanyang University of Technology, a lecturer would be known as a NUT lecturer —a nut lecturer (who drives students nuts). Ha! Ha!
